Our Commitment to Sustainability
LeVaughn+ Associates Architects fosters a holistic approach to Architecture and Interior Design, which pairs the owner's personal sustainability goals with the availability of renewable natural resources. We consider the wisdom of the regional vernacular architecture and utilize both passive and active systems to yield the optimal solution for each project.
Our tools include house orientation, massing, window placement, shading and natural ventilation as well as photovoltaic, geothermal, wind, and hydroelectric systems, to keep the structure comfortable without the undue waste of natural resources. We also encourage the use of locally sourced and sustainably procured materials whenever possible.
An integrated analysis, which considers engineering, life cycle costs and tax implications can be performed to be sure the initial investment represents an appropriate value to the Owner.

Founding Principal
Since graduating in 1983 cum laude from Memphis State University with a BS in Architectural Engineering Technology, and in 1987 with multiple design awards and a Masters in Architecture from University of Illinois at Chicago, Mr. LeVaughn has worked professionally at some of Chicago's most storied and influential architectural firms, including Graham, Anderson, Probst and White, and Lobel, Schlossman and Hackl.
Among Mr. LeVaughn's professional honors, in 1989 he was chosen as the United States representative to the International Academy of Architects (IAA) workshop in Mahachakala, Dagastan, USSR. His work has been featured in several national design and trade publications. Mr. LeVaughn is licensed to practice Architecture in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Florida, Colorado, Wisconsin, Ohio, Minnesota and Maryland and is certified by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB). He has been a principal in his own firm since 1991.
A principal focus of Mr. LeVaughn's practice is the design and construction of luxury single and multi family residences. Over the past 20 plus years, Mr. LeVaughn has been responsible for the design and construction of over 100 single-family homes and hundreds of units of multi-family residences, primarily in Chicago's Lincoln Park, Gold Coast, De Paul and Lakeview neighborhoods, as well as projects in Chicago's North Shore suburbs.
Mr. LeVaughn's historically sensitive urban infill residences are widely admired for their exquisite proportions and meticulous attention to detail, continuing a long tradition of handsome craftsmanship, timelessness and profound sense of place exhibited in Chicago's finest historical Residences. He is a member of the Institute for Classical Architecture and Classical America, The Congress for New Urbanism, the Association of Licensed Architects and the American Society of Architectural Illustrators.
Further a field, Mr. LeVaughn's work can be found In Colorado, Michigan, North Carolina, California, Florida and Tennessee. He has designed projects in the Bahamas, Canada, and Central America . He is also a licensed private pilot.
The Firm of LeVaughn+Associates, Architecture and Interiors is a full service architectural and interior design practice, with particular expertise in architectural and interior design, engineering and construction management of luxury residential projects. They are located in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood.
Timothy LeVaughn was also a managing partner of a luxury residential development firm specializing in the design, development, construction and project management of some of Chicago's most exclusive single and multi-family residences, as well as retail, commercial and hospitality developments.
